Buddha Teas
Buddha Teas started with one man’s endeavour to bring quality natural tea to the rest of the world. Born in the U.K, John grew up heavily immersed in the culture surrounding tea. After moving to America, however, he found the choices available in tea offered to be disappointingly limited. This inspired John to create an expanded variety for tea lovers like himself as he began to explore the possibility of founding a tea company of his own.
Choosing a name was a difficult endeavour that could not be taken lightly. John wanted a name that would best communicate his desires and direction for the company. It was during a meditation session that he realised the answer he was looking for.
The name “Buddha Teas” was chosen not to reflect a religion, but a philosophy. One of the key aspects of Buddhism is living a life in harmony with the world, one of simplicity, generosity and filled with compassion for all life. As a company devoted to offering natural teas that are healthy for consumers and for the environment, this philosophy was a perfect fit. By taking from the earth no more than what we need, and giving back to it through recycling and compostable products, Buddha Teas would strive not to profit from the earth, but to honour it and its many blessings.
With an identity and a purpose firmly established, Buddha Teas launched its first line of natural teas in 2009, and has continued to offer quality products ever since.
