What is Oud?
Oud was traditionally used as an incense burnt in mosques to give a relaxing, rich quality to the environment. It is now one of the most expensive scents in the world due to its scarcity.

Oud is found in a unique resin produced by the Agar tree as a reaction to any infection from phialophora parasitica. It is a treacle-like, potent resin which contains the essence of the tree itself and acts as a protectant from the infection. The Agar tree grows naturally in the Middle East, but over-processing has endangered it and now only limited supplies of the essence are allowed.

Plantations of Agar trees in other areas, as a conservation effort, are said to vary in scent due to climate.

What Does Oud Smell Like?
Oud has a very warm and woody scent. It is often said to conjure up memories of subtle cedarwood embers. Oud is quite a strong smell if over-used, so they keep things subtle. It’s a truly unique scent, and a huge favourite of ours – which is why it was one of their founding scents.
